TRASHED TURRET | RURAL HOUSE

I grew up dreaming of a house with a turret and so far it hasn't happened. I had this place marked on my map as "large home looks interesting" not sure what to expect. Driving down the lane and coming around the corner it was shocking to see a house this large, with a turret in rural Saskatchewan. At first, it wasn't clear of its status but upon closer inspection (ie// open doors) it was abandoned. The outside was littered with junk and so was the inside. The structure itself likely could have been saved before the roof started to leak but it's in rough shape. A beautiful house, sad to see it in this condition.

Update 2021 - this property has someone living on it, not sure if in a camper or the house?

coon house | Farmhouse

Yes, this house was home to a racoon family, hence the name. I never met them face to face but I did hear them. They were not thrilled about me being in the house and I am sure I scared them down the walls and into the basement. The road to this house was more like a goat path and would be impassible when wet or snow covered. It was a nice little farmhouse with intact windows, an old tv and original features like the bathroom tile and wallpaper.

SUnday School House | Rural House

I am sure your wondering about why I called this place the sunday school house. Well, its beside an active church - in fact, it would have once been the priest's home. Once the priest moved out the church used it for sunday school. At some point the house was used for nothing and was abandoned, this is when I visited. It was clear the house was used for sunday school but it had been many years since it was last used. With the original aspects of the home unchanged and filled with items from sunday school this was a unique home. I am not sure when it was demolished but a return visit in 2020 proved that it had been gone for a while. The church remains, still very active with a strong congregation.

Porch house | rural house

The porch on this house demanded attention! Although overgrown, it sitll had all the window details. Standing tall this house was surrounded by trees, so the best time to see it was outside of summer. With very little vandalism and lots of natural decay paired with some items left behind from the last owners, this house was worth the stop. I particularly enjoyed the crib, suitecase and old wallpaper.
